Wi-tircity Stands for Wireless Power Transmission.
It transfer the electricity without
connection of wire from input to output.
It is Wireless transmission of signal.
In witricity transmitter and receiver are used for transmission of signal
and these rays are not harmful to humans.
If we are particularly organized and
good with tie wrap then also a few dusty power cord tangles around our home. We
have even had to follow one particular cord through the seemingly impossible
snarl to the outlet hoping that the plug pull will be the right one. This is
one of the downfalls of electricity. While it can make people's lives easier,
it can add a lot of clutter in the process. For these reasons, scientists have
tried to develop methods of wireless power transmission that could cut the
clutter or lead to clean sources of electricity. Wireless power transmission is
not a new idea. Many researchers developed several methods for wireless power
transmission. But witricity is a new technology used for wireless power
transmission. By the use of this technology transmission of electrical energy
to remote objects without wires can be possible.
The inventors of witricity are the
researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). They developed a
new technology for wireless electricity transmission and this is based upon the coupled resonant objects. In this resonant magnetic fields are used. So the
wastage of power is reduced. The system consists of witricity transmitters and
receivers. The transmitters and receivers contain magnetic loop antennas made
of copper coils and they are tuned to the same frequency.
In the 1890’s wireless energy transmission was
demonstrated by Nikola Tesla using his demonstration on resonant transformers
called Tesla coils. Since these coils had undesirable electricfields which
radiated energy in all directions, the efforts made by Tesla made little
success. Various technologies for wireless power transfer like capacitive
coupling, microwave and laser method have been proposed involving far fields.
However it is the technology using magnetic resonance couplinghas been found
to be a viable technology for midrange energy transfer. Further, this means of
energy transfer uses non-radiative mode of transmission and offers the use of
connector free devices and is an alternative to the use of hazardous disposable
batteries. Wireless energy transfer or WiTricity is currently extending its
applications to medical implants saving patients from undergoing operations to
replace the lithium ion batteries used for pacemakers. Magnetic resonance is
also being used for charging of electric vehicles while driving on a highway.
Since this technology can work even in water, powering of under- water cameras
can be done reliably.

WORKING
This project is
built upon using an electronic circuit which converts AC 230V 50Hz to AC 12V,
High frequency. The output is fed to a tuned coil forming as primary of an air
core transformer. The secondary coil develops a voltage of HF 12volt. Thus
the transfer of power is done by the primary(transmitter) to the secondary that is separated with a considerable
distance(say 3cm). Therefore the transfer could be seen as the primary
transmits and the secondary receives the power to run load. Moreover this technique can be used in number
of applications, like to charge a mobile phone, iPod, laptop battery, propeller
clock wirelessly. And also this kind of charging provides a far lower risk of
electrical shock as it would be galvanically isolated. This concept is an
Emerging Technology, and in future the distance of power transfer can be
enhanced as the research across the world is still going.In witricity ,our
load or appliances are safe from short circuit ,because in input side if short
circuit is happened so the transmission in stop. So at receiver the signal are
not induced in coil, hence the output of receiver is not present then our load
is safe.In witricity, the number
of turns of coil is increases then maximum voltage are transmit and receive on
large distance.In this circuit,
bridge rectifier are used, because in full wave and half wave rectifier
efficiency is less than bridge rectifier. And 100% efficiency in bridge
rectifier so, bridge rectifier are used.
